Just add sauce…

There are very few things in life that aren’t solved by chocolate, well I’m sure that is what the Doctor would tell me.

In fact, the only complication is that it usually comes in powdered (cocoa) or solid (well.. chocolate) forms.  This isn’t helpful in critical life moments like What should I put on that crêpe to finish it off?

Time and time again I added this to whatever I was making the almost as good looking as me half of my marriage… In fact it was this sauce that pushed him to the point of drinking milk to be able to keep eating! Now that is a once in a lifetime accomplishment.


Quick Chocolate Sauce

Creates a few cups

  • 1 cup granulated sugar (you can add more, I’ve read recipes with over double but I think its overkill)
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups milk of your choice
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

1. Place first four (dry) ingredients in a medium-sized saucepan, along with 1/2 cup of the milk and whisk to combine into a thick paste.

2. Add the remaining milk, bring the mixture to a boil, and whisk to combine well. When sauce boils, reduce heat to low and simmer very gently for 5 minutes, whisking often. Remove from heat, add vanilla, and cool.

3.Store in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, covered.
